Clinton Stock Going the Way of Enron

In recent weeks, Donna Brazile, former chairwoman of the DNC, and Former Vice President Joe Biden have released books that do not paint the Clintons in a good light.  For years, the right has written these types of books; Ann Coulter’s High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton and Peter Schweizer’s Clinton Cash come to mind.

Brazile’s book, Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House, confirms what many had already suspected: the DNC had rigged last year's Democratic Presidential Primary in Hillary’s favor.  Brazile released an excerpt from her book in Politico earlier this month.  The excerpt describes how Hillary and the DNC had set up a Joint Fundraising Agreement, where she would have control over the party’s finances, strategy and personnel choices in exchange for “raising money and investing in the DNC.”   Brazile, who managed Al Gore’s 2000 Presidential Campaign, mentioned that candidates typically agree to a Joint Fundraising Agreement after they become the presumptive nominee.  Hillary set up the Joint Fundraising Agreement in August 2015, ten months before the final 2016 Democratic Primaries took place.  No wonder the DNC tried so hard to limit the number of Presidential Primary debates and scheduled the debates they actually decided to hold up against football games.

Biden conducted an interview with Vanity Fair ahead of the release of his book, Promise Me Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose, During the interview, he referred to Hillary Clinton as a “prisoner of history”  In the book, he describes what went through his head the day she announced her run for President, saying “She did not evince much joy at the prospect of running.  I may have misread her entirely that morning, but she seemed to me like a person propelled by forces not entirely of her own marking.”  Based on Bernie Sanders’ strong second-place finish in the Democratic Party, many Democrats agreed with the Former Vice President’s observation.

While a small number of people will continue to defend the Clintons till the day they die, many on the left have finally decided to hold the Clintons to the same standards they hold everybody else.  In the wake of the sexual assault allegations against Roy Moore and several once-respected Hollywood big shots, many liberals have finally admitted that they should have taken Bill Clinton’s accusers more seriously.  One can’t help but wonder if Bill Clinton would have even made it through the Democratic Primary if the “#MeToo” era had begun 25 years ago.  We might have had President Jerry Brown instead.  The Atlantic released a piece called “Reckoning with Bill Clinton’s Sex Crimes”, which admits that feminists should have spoken out stronger against the Former President’s sexual misconduct.  The subheadline of the article poses an interesting question, pointing out that “Feminists saved the 42nd President of the United States. They were on the wrong side of history; is it finally time to make things right?”

The answer to that question is yes.  Even pink hat wearing feminist Chelsea Handler admits that she believed Bill Clinton raped Juanita Broaddrick.  Handler’s comments come after a back-and-forth on Twitter, which began when Handler tweeted “Imagine being molested by an older man.  Then that man denies ever doing it and gets elected to United States senate.  What kind of message does that send to young girls everywhere?  And men to all the men who abuse women?”  Broaddrick responded by saying “Yeah, @chelseahandler I can imagine.  I was raped by the Arkansas AG who then becomes Governor & President and NBC held my interview explaining the rape until after his impeachment hearing.  But I’m sure you don’t want to go there.”  Handler responded by saying “I’m sorry I’m just seeing this, @atensnut.  You are right and I apologize to you for not knowing your story.  Democrats along with Republicans and the rest of the worlds’s political parties all need to do better and respect the firsthand accounts of victims.  I believe you.”  Even Kirsten Gillibrand, who currently sits in Hillary’s former Senate seat, said that Former President Clinton should have resigned over his affair with Monica Lewinsky.  Talk about a pendulum swing.

In addition to saving the 42nd President, Bill Clinton’s inner circle, including Hillary herself, did everything in their power to trash his accusers.  I guess appointing two very pro-abortion jurists to the Supreme Court served as penance for rape and sexual harassment…until now. Hillary called Monica Lewinsky a “narcissistic loony toon” and Clinton Campaign Strategist James Carville referred to Paula Jones as “trailer park trash.”  On an episode of “The View” last year, Joy Behar referred to the women who came forward to accuse Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct as “tramps.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has indicated that he may appoint a Special Counsel to look into the Uranium One scandal, which many in the mainstream media have either failed to cover at all or dismissed as perfectly legal.  While members of Congress such as Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) insist on the appointment of a Special Counsel, Sessions can just as easily carry out this investigation on his own; after all it is his job to investigate wrongdoing.  Clinton loyalists like Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) have said that “We will be nothing more than the countries that we criticize where the winning party tries to prosecute the losing party.”  Following Schiff’s logic, maybe all criminals should run for President and lose; then they would never have to worry about facing the consequences of their actions.

I almost feel bad for Chelsea Clinton.  Her parents’ corruption and immoral behavior have made it very difficult for her to have a political career of her own.  Then again, I agree with Martin O’Malley who said that “the Presidency of the United States is not some crown to be passed between two families.”  A majority of voters agreed with Martin O’Malley and voted out the Bush dynasty in the Republican Primary and the Clinton dynasty in the General Election.

While the Clintons may finally sail off into the sunset, other elder statesmen in the Democratic Party will not go away so easily.  Biden, who has expressed remorse that he did not run for President in 2016, has indicated that he may seek the White House for the third time in 2020.  Other potential 2020 contenders include Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, both of whom will have celebrated their 70th birthdays by the time November 3, 2020 rolls around.  I find it quite ironic that the party that promotes itself as the party of youth seems likely to nominate another septuagenarian as its standard bearer.  The three top Democrats in the House, all of whom have stood by the Clintons through thick and thin, boast an average age of 77 years old and have served in Congress for a combined 90 years.

All of the power that the Clintons had over the DNC leading up to last year’s General Election means absolutely nothing now.  Moderate Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia has already said that he does not want Hillary to campaign with him as he runs for re-election to his Senate seat next year.  Countries such as Saudi Arabia that have donated millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation probably want their money back.  They probably feel the same way that Enron stockholders did as the company went bankrupt.

In closing, it looks like the feminists have finally decided to stop protecting the Clintons.  The feminism that Hillary fought so hard for on the campaign trail last year has come back to bite her and husband where it really hurts.  Maybe the double standard surrounding sexual assault allegations has finally disappeared.
