Top 10 Highlights of 2017

As 2017 comes to a close, I wanted to end on a high note by pointing out some of the best news stories of the year.     Appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court: America really dodged a bullet by electing Donald Trump President.   Had Hillary won, she would have appointed a liberal judicial activist in the mold of Ruth Bader Ginsburg to replace originalist icon Antonin Scalia.   President Trump announced Neil Gorsuch as his choice to fill Scalia’s seat just eleven days after taking the oath of office.   In addition to Gorsuch, President Trump has also appointed twelve judges to serve on the appellate Courts and six judges to serve on the district courts.   The Federal Courts desperately need more originalist judges, as evidenced by the several liberal judicial activists who keep striking down President Trump’s travel bans.      Democrats’ failure to win special elections: Throughout the first half of 2017, Democrats spent millions of dollars trying to win special Con

Top 10 Lowlights of 2017

As 2017 comes to a close, now seems like a good time to acknowledge the lowlights that this year could have done without.     Dianne Feinstein’s Religious Bigotry : While questioning Amy Barrett, President Trump’s nominee to serve on the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, Senator Dianne Feinstein seemed to suggest that her Catholic faith disqualified her from serving on the bench.   Feinstein complained that “When we read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you.   And that’s of concern when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have fought for – for years in this country.”   I find Feinstein’s behavior quite strange considering the fact that the Democrats always whine about “religious tests” when it comes to our immigration policy.     They don’t seem to mind “religious tests” when it comes to judges.   The United States Senate confirmed Barrett 55-43 at the end of October.   Not surprisingly, Feinstein voted against her.

Unlikely Targets of the Liberal Mob

Earlier this year, MSNBC host Chris Matthews compared the Trump family to the Romanovs; hoping that the Trumps would face the same fate as the family that ruled Russia for 300 years, where the Bolsheviks forcibly removed them from power during a Civil War.   However, it seems as if anyone will face the same fate as the Romanovs, it will be the liberal mob; who have started cannibalizing one another to advance the causes of the Cultural Revolution.   Let’s take a look at some examples.   Eleven months ago, actress Meryl Streep had all of the left gushing over her speech at the Golden Globes; where she criticized the incoming President.   Now, a series of posters of Streep’s face with the phrase “She knew” covering her eyes have popped up in Los Angeles . In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Streep denied that she knew anything about her close friend’s predatory behavior.   Yet, apparently her fellow comrades just don’t believe her.   I wonder how long it will take be

2017: A Tough Year for the Mainstream Media

If the American people learned nothing else in 2017, they got a firsthand look at the corruption and bias that plagues the mainstream media. If the media had to suffer through malpractice lawsuits like medical professionals do, they definitely would have spent a lot of time in court this past year.          A pipe bomb exploded in a New York City subway passageway last Monday; injuring four people, including the 27 year-old Bangladeshi national who intended to serve as a martyr for Allah.   Fortunately for the American people, his evil plan of killing as many Americans as possible backfired.   Instead of getting 72 virgins, he got 72 stitches.   He will probably spend the next 72 years rotting in a jail cell.   The explosion took place less than six weeks after a truck driven by a radical Islamic terrorist rammed into pedestrians on a bike path by the Hudson River , killing eight people.   While no one died from the explosion, you would think that the mainstream media would

Paul Ryan Recognizes The Death of the West

At a Press Conference on Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan caused many heads to turn when he said , “Baby boomers are retiring.   I did my part but you know we need to have higher birth rates in this country.   Meaning, baby boomers are retiring and we have fewer people following them in the workplace.”   If I had to guess, I would say that the baby boomers in Congress, which increasingly resembles the geriatric ward at an average American hospital, will be the last members of the “Worst Generation” to retire; unless Congress somehow manages to pass term limits.     Ryan illustrated the hard numbers to help make his point.   America faces a 90 percent increase in the retiring population with only a 19 percent increase in the working population.   In other words, the survival of our republic will require people to have more babies.   People like Pat Buchanan have said that for years; it’s nice to see the establishment finally catching on.     Low birth rates have also created

Obama's Legacy Intact?

The media and the Democrats’ hostility towards President Trump stems from the fact that they see him as a threat to the legacy of their favorite President, Barack Obama; who had done more to advance the causes of progressivism than any President in more than a generation.   That explains why 100 percent of the Democrats in both houses of Congress voted against the attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare because that would amount to admitting that the healthcare law championed by the man they worship did not work.   But Obama loyalists fail to realize that much of his legacy still remains intact.       As with every President, President Obama has left his biggest legacy in the judiciary.   He appointed two justices to the Supreme Court and appointed several other judges to the lower courts.   The Supreme Court made some major decisions, such as declaring gay marriage a “Constitutional right”, during the Obama era which could have gone the other way had a Republican won the Wh

A Series of Unfortunate Events

It pains me to say that liberals have had their Scott Brown moment now that Democrat Doug Jones has narrowly defeated his Republican opponent Roy Moore in the Special Senate Election in reliably Republican Alabama to finish the remainder of Jeff Sessions’ term; making Jones the first Democratic Senator to represent Alabama in more than two decades.   Ironically, the last Democrat to win a statewide Federal election in Alabama still sits in the Senate today.   Richard Shelby, Alabama’s Senior Senator who refused to vote for Moore in the special election, won re-election to a second term in the Senate in 1992, before switching parties after the 1994 “Republican Revolution.”   High turnout in the urban areas of the state propelled Jones to victory.   It appears as if many Republicans decided to stay home, vote for Jones or support a write-in candidate.   That decision did not come without consequences.   As Bill Mitchell put it , “You stay home, the bad guys win.”      In 2010
