The 100-Day Dash

How time flies.   Less than 100 days remain between now and the 2018 midterm elections.   Everyone obsesses over the “generic ballot,” which ultimately means nothing.   We live in the United States , not Great Britain .   Democrats could end up winning a majority of the nationwide popular vote while Republicans maintain control of both houses of Congress.   That’s exactly what happened in 2012.   That may also pan out in 2018, especially considering the fact that the Democrats will capture nearly 100 percent of the popular vote in the California Senate race thanks to the top-two primary system.   In addition, the number of Democrats without Republican opponents in House races far exceeds the number of Republicans without Democratic opponents; which will drive up the Democratic share of the vote in the nationwide popular vote tally.   In the House, Republicans start off at a disadvantage.   The Democrats only need 23 seats to regain control of the House of Represenatives, and Hi

So Who's Running for President Anyway?

During an appearance in Missouri at the Veterans of Foreign Wars annual convention, President Trump touted the confirmation of his new Veterans’ Affairs Secretary, Robert Wilkie, whom the Senate confirmed earlier this week by an 86-9 vote.   He told the crowd to take a look at the “no” votes, referring to them as “super-lefts, who are running against me in two years.” All of the “no” votes for Wilkie came from Democrats.   At least five of the nine candidates have established themselves as 2020 Presidential hopefuls.   Senators Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Kamala Harris of California, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts all voted against Wilkie, as did Senator Dianne Feinstein of Califiornia, Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts and Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon; none of whom seem to have presidential ambitions.   Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon , who also voted against the nomination, may emerge as a dark horse in the 2020

Apology Tours: 2018 Edition

During his first year in office, President Obama embarked on a global apology tour.   The Heritage Foundation put together a list of ten examples of him apologizing in just his first four and a half months in office alone; compiled just before he began a trip to Saudi Arabia , Egypt , Germany , and France . During a speech in liberals’ favorite country, France , he complained about America ’s “failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world” and highlighting his plans to close the terrorist detention center in Guantanamo Bay , Cuba ; which ultimately never came to fruition.   The President also apologized for America ’s “arrogance,” one of many times he would reject the idea of American exceptionalism.   As far as Europe’s leading role in the world, Europe has led the globe in implementing the disastrous principles of open borders, political correctness, third-wave feminism and socialism that have only hastened the phenomenon identified by Pat Buchanan as “The Death of the

The Ex-Presidents' Club

Yesterday marked the eighteen-month anniversary of the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States, which means that President Obama has now held the title of Former President for a year and a half.   As President Trump wrapped up his trip in Europe, Former President Obama took a trip to Africa, which included his first trip to his father’s home country of Kenya since he left office.   He spoke in South Africa Tuesday in honor of Former South African President Nelson Mandela’s 100 th Birthday.   During the speech, he took quite a few veiled shots at President Trump.   President Obama echoed the left-wing talking point that President Trump has dictatorial tendencies, complaining that “strongman politics are ascendant suddenly.”   Laura Ingraham pointed out that “Trump was elected in part because many Americans were fed up with the ‘weak-man’ leadership of Barack Obama.” President Obama railed against the horrors of “closed borders” and “protectionism
