When Will We Ever Learn?

Unfortunately, another terrorist attack happened this week.  This time, tragedy struck at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England where a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in the foyer of the Manchester Arena as concert-goers, many of them children and teens, were leaving the event.  Grande escaped unhurt but many of her fans were not so lucky.  So far, the death toll stands at 23 and the number of injured stands at more than 100. The perpetrator was born in the UK to Libyan refugees, who have since moved back to their country of origin. Of course, it was only a matter of time before ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.  In the wake of the attack, UK Prime Minster Theresa May has raised the UK terrorist threat from “severe” to “critical.”

Some of the media managed to drop everything and provide wall-to-wall coverage of the terrorist attack.  Others decided that it was more important to cover the never-ending conspiracy theories relating to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. These are probably the same people who believe that climate change is the greatest national security threat.

The perpetrator of the Manchester attack had previously caught the attention of security officers in the UK.  He had also made a trip to Libya in the days preceding the attack.  The perpetrators of the December 2015 terror attack in San Bernardino had caught the attention of their neighbor, who was too afraid to report them for fear of being called racist.  Am I the only one who notices a pattern here?

The terrorists’ playbook hasn’t changed at all.  They seek to exploit the west’s generosity in accepting refugees from unstable, war-torn countries.  They then seek to inflict as much damage as possible in their attacks, which is probably why this particular terrorist chose to carry out the attack at one of the largest arenas in the United Kingdom.

The big question is will the west’s playbook on how to deal with the threat of radical Islamic terrorism change?  Well, we all know the left’s playbook is never going to change.  If a terrorist uses a gun, they will immediately talk about the need for more gun control.  If not, they will immediately talk about all the wonderful things Muslims have contributed to western culture and then immediately denounce any attempts to restrict or reduce immigration from terror-prone countries as “un-American.”

London mayor Sadiq Khan has said that terror attacks are “part and parcel of living in a big city.”  He may be right, as long as big cities put the safety of their citizens last by continuing with their “sanctuary city” policies.  The more liberal politicians such as Khan waive the white flag by accepting the unacceptable status quo, the greater the chance ISIS has of achieving its goal to plant its black flag across western countries as it marches closer to its goal of achieving a global caliphate.

President Trump appears committed to fighting the despicable jihadists, whom he referred to as “losers” in a speech following Monday’s attack.  It should come as no surprise that the snowflakes on “The View” were offended by Trump’s language.  I really wish I was making this stuff up.  Perhaps Trump’s new policy on all issues facing the country should be “if the ladies of The View are offended, I must be doing the right thing.”

All logical people should be able to see that admitting refugees from the countries on President Trump’s “unconstitutional” travel ban poses a national security risk.  Until the west is victorious in its battle against ISIS savages, it is probably best to hit the pause button.  Doing so does not make the United States racist or bigoted, it makes us smart.

Each terrorist attack should remind us that the problem of radical Islamic terrorism presents a clear and present danger to all those who care about maintaining the society we live in.  It should be painfully obvious by now that leftist solutions such as diversity training will not solve the problem. There is no “safe space” to retreat from radical Islamic terrorists.  They will attack anyone who is not willing to subscribe to their worldview. If the west really wants to stop the problem of radical Islamic terrorism, it needs to put the safety of its citizens above all else and put the obsession with political correctness on the back burner.
