The Anti-Scientific Revolution

For decades, many liberals have rejected religion.  Rather than peacefully coexisting with the religious community, the most extreme liberals have done everything they can to banish all references to religion from the public square; justifying their actions by pointing to an incorrect understanding of Separation of Church and State. Many of these liberals claim to believe in science instead; acting as if science and religion are mutually exclusive.  Sadly, many of today’s liberals reject both religion and science; instead adhering to the dogmas of secular humanism and hedonism, which seem to get stranger and more extreme as time goes by.

The debate over when life begins presents the best example of liberals rejecting science.  Even as scientific research shows that the “cluster of cells” has its own unique DNA, many liberals will never accept this as truth.  When science contradicts liberal dogma, liberal dogma always comes out on top.  If liberals actually admitted that life began at conception, then that would call into question the morality of abortion; which they so steadfastly support.  Liberals appear to have no intention of divorcing themselves from the coffers of Planned Parenthood anytime soon.  If Cecile Richards wants the left to deny science, then the left will deny science.

In Ninth Grade English, I read the book Anthem, a dystopian novella penned by Ayn Rand.  In this alternative universe, a centralized government controls every aspect of one’s life, including their career path.  Reading the book was quite confusing because individual characters in the book referred to themselves using the pronouns “we.” They were no longer allowed to use the pronoun “I”, as the society they were living in did not value individuality.  Listening to today’s liberals use pronouns leaves me just as confused.

In the west, we have officially reached a pronoun crisis.  In Canada and certain “enlightened” jurisdictions in the United States, people can face legal consequences for not referring to someone by their “preferred” pronoun.  Because I’m such a nice guy, I’m going to give liberals the quickest, most basic biology lesson ever; a lesson they apparently slept through in biology class. A more advanced biology lesson would reveal that boys are born with an X chromosome and a Y chromosome while girls have two X chromosomes.  These are the factors that determine an individual’s biological sex.  The pronouns “he/him/his” correspond with boys while the pronouns “she/her/hers” correspond with girls.  But for some people, these pronouns just aren’t enough.  They refuse to recognize their biological reality and invent new pronouns for themselves such as “ze” and “xe”.

The latest controversy having to do with gender and pronouns comes out of Canada.  Usually, it’s adults who decide to rebel against the scientifically sound two-gender system.  However, one such individual has decided to make “their” newborn child non-binary, requesting that the government mark the child’s gender as “U” on their health card and birth certificate.  The government complied with half of that request; listing the baby’s gender as “U” on its health card.  This individual, Kori Doty, is still fighting to have the child’s gender listed as “U” on the birth certificate.  Doty thinks that the child, named Searyl, should be allowed to decide what gender it is when it is ready; regardless of what’s between its legs.  What if Searyl has yet to make a “decision” by the time it starts school.  Won’t Searyl feel out of place when it is the only person in its class not to identify as male or female?  Perhaps this is why western governments want to impose gender ideology on elementary school children.  In order to establish a more progressive union, it appears as if we must say goodbye to the concept of childhood innocence.   Whatever is driving Doty’s controversial decision to raise a genderless child, it sure isn’t science. It appears as if feelings are the primary factor behind the decision. To quote Ben Shapiro, facts don’t care about your feelings.  In this era of political correctness and character assassination, expect very few people to muster enough courage to question the merits of Doty’s decision.

When it comes to the debate on gender and the evolving field of “gender identity”, many medical professionals are throwing science out the window in an effort to affirm the wishes of the powerful transgender activists; who push the narrative that all people uncomfortable with their biological gender should transition to the opposite gender, including children.  Many activists advocate giving puberty-suppressing drugs and cross-sex hormones to children who identify as a member the opposite sex.  Yet when prepubescent individuals take these “life saving” medications, unintended consequences may ensue, including decreased bone growth and an increased risk of coronary heart disease.  Also, scientific studies have called into the question the idea that someone can be “trapped in the body of the wrong sex.” But liberals’ feelings don’t care about facts.

While liberals incessantly attack conservatives as “anti-science”, they should look in the mirror if they want to find anti-science people.  Liberals will gladly reject any science that does not fit their political agenda.  The people who portray themselves as the most open-minded and accepting people on the planet are in fact among the most closed-minded.  Anyone who fails to agree with their agenda 100 percent of the time could face the wrath of highly organized social justice warriors in the very unforgiving court of public opinion.   Today’s liberals have completely abandoned the principles of the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment, in favor of principles that correlate more closely to those in power in the Age of Absolutism.  Based on the grip the far left has on our institutions, the anti-scientific revolution will probably continue for quite a while before a Second Enlightenment takes place.
