Liberals' Message to America's Kids: Be Worst

Earlier this month, First Lady Melania Trump unveiled her “Be Best” initiative from the Rose Garden.  The “Be Best” initiative will focus on improving the health and well-being of children across the country, similar to other initiatives started by previous first ladies such as Barbara Bush’s literacy campaign and Michelle Obama’s decision to insert Big Brother into school lunches with her “Let’s Move” initiative.

Liberals got bent out of shape because the title of the initiative does not include a definite article.  Melania Trump’s first language of Slovenian does not include definite articles.  If liberals really have that much of a problem with immigrants who don’t speak perfect English, then they would surely support the RAISE Act, which would award points to potential immigrants based on categories including English proficiency.  But they won’t support the RAISE Act because it does not give preference to immigrants who will end up voting for the Democratic Party.

Liberals also used the First Lady’s rare public appearance as an excuse to delve into conspiracy theories and gossip about the state of the Trump marriage.  The Washington Post released a piece the day prior trying to make the case that the Trumps have marital problems, citing the fact that he told the co-hosts of “Fox & Friends” that he did not get Melania a birthday present as well as a video of the First Lady appearing to push the President’s hand away during an overseas trip to Israel last year. The article also speculated that Mrs. Trump does not actually live in the White House, instead choosing to live with her parents in the suburbs.  When this rumor came up during the White House press briefing the next day, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders dismissed it as “tabloid gossip.”

Liberals accuse the First Lady of hypocrisy for making combating cyber-bullying one of her major initiatives as First Lady despite the fact that her husband frequently uses Twitter to go after his political opponents. If liberals really hated cyber-bullying, why don’t they like to lead by example?  After all, you would think they would follow Michelle Obama’s golden rule: “when they go low, we go high!”  Yeah, right.  Many liberals could probably win Gold Medals in a hypothetical Cyber-bullying Olympics.  After 2016 Presidential Candidate Ben Carson suggested that the Jews could have better fought the Nazis if they had guns, Seth Rogen tweeted out “F*** you @RealDrBenCarson.”  Following the first 2016 Presidential debate, Hillary Clinton loyalist Howard Dean, who served as the Governor of Vermont during the state’s transformation from the capital of moderate Republicanism to a socialist sanctuary, suggested on Twitter that President Trump uses Cocaine, citing his “sniffling” during the debate.  President Trump’s archenemy Rosie O’Donnell used her Twitter page to post a video compilation implying that his then 10-year-old son Barron has autism, although she did mention that there is “no shame at all” in having a child with autism.

Liberals appear to have a different message to America’s children: “be worst.”  The group “Deport Racism” released this ad featuring Latino kids, some of whom are probably younger than ten years old, firing off F-bombs and flipping off then-candidate Donald Trump while spouting off the usual left-wing claptrap about how he hates “brown people.”  The SJW company F***H8 used little girls as young as six dressed up as toddlers in tiaras to spout off feminist talking points using F-bombs and middle fingers as they sought to sell T-shirts.  As much as I hate big government, shouldn’t DCYF get involved?  That particular video ended with a boy dressed up as a girl, suggesting that “when you tell a boy it’s bad to act like a girl, it’s because you think it’s bad to be a girl.”  If anything, society tells boys to be ashamed of their gender, considering all of the talk about “toxic masculinity.”  After hearing about “toxic masculinity” 24/7, it should not come as that much of a surprise why impressionable young boys would want to start cross-dressing.

Speaking of cross-dressing, the Brooklyn Public Library, supported by taxpayers’ dollars, recently introduced “Drag Queen Story Hour,” where men dressed up as women read stories to small children.  Brooklyn joins other “progressive” municipalities including San Francisco in using story time to promote a political agenda.  It looks like the phrase “Reading Rainbow” has acquired a whole new meaning in this brave new world.

Rather than obsess over “diversity” and “inclusion,” perhaps schools and communities should place a higher emphasis on discipline.  Instead, many have chosen to do the exact opposite.  The Obama Administration instituted a policy that threatened to sue schools for disciplining certain races at higher rates than others; arguing that minority students unfairly get disciplined at higher rates than white students, which in turn affects their ability to thrive as adults.  This “social experiment” had disastrous results in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the Superintendent’s decision to institute the politically correct discipline policy led to teachers ending up in the hospital as a result of injuries sustained at the hands of their students. One could easily argue that the left’s obsession with racial quotas played a major role in the Broward County School District’s decision not to discipline Nikolas Cruz, who ended up carrying out the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where seventeen people lost their lives.

But liberals will never admit that their policies don’t work.  They instead used the shooting as an excuse to push for gun control.  Students at Douglas High School became the faces for gun control, failing to notice that government officials at the Federal and local level failing to do their jobs may have done more to set into motions the tragic events that unfolded at their school than the NRA or “gun culture.”

While liberals seem to have no problem introducing children to adult material, they have increasingly decided to treat adults like children, as evidenced by the provision of Obamacare that allows parents to keep their children on their health insurance plans until they reach the age of 26.  Liberals also believe that, like children, adults need “space” to “act out.”  Therefore, they fail to punish destructive behavior.  Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake specifically told the Baltimore Police Department to “stand down” as rioters looted and burned the most economically disadvantaged parts of the city in the wake of the death of Freddie Gray, an African-American man who died as a result of injuries sustained in a police van shortly after his arrest.

The Freddie Gray case came just eight months after the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.  White Police Officer Darren Wilson shot the black teen, who had just robbed a convenience store. A grand jury ultimately decided not to indict Officer Wilson for murder, which led to violent protests, rioting, and looting in the St. Louis suburb.  Activists on the left had already declared Wilson guilty in the court of public opinion, showing that they have little respect for the idea of due process.  The “Black Lives Matter” movement, which consists of a large amount of young people, traces its roots back to the Michael Brown shooting. The “Black Lives Matter” movement has certainly not fared well for race relations in the United States.

New York City’s SJW Mayor Bill de Blasio suggested that children of color should fear police officers, specifically referencing a “talk” he had with his biracial son.  Shortly after de Blasio made these comments, a “Black Lives Matter” rally in NYC featured chants such as “What do we want? Dead cops!  When do we want it? Now!”  Just a week after this rally, two police officers lost their lives in the line of duty at the hands of a gunman hoping to extract revenge for the death of Michael Brown.  Members of the NYPD turned their backs on de Blasio during the officers’ funeral in an effort to make clear their disapproval of his comments.

The popular culture has also done its fair share of damage in helping America’s kids to “be worst.”  Shows such as “Teen Mom” and “16 and Pregnant” promote teen pregnancy, an idea which makes very little sense in an era when most millennials can barely afford to support themselves.  Tabloid newspapers certainly don’t help by including flattering photos of the teenage mothers on the covers of their magazines.  As Melissa Henson, the Director of Communications for the Parents Television Council pointed out, “It is sending the message to young girls that if you get pregnant as a result of being sexually active, you could end up on a magazine cover.”  That message could definitely resonate with teenage girls, especially in the “selfie” culture that worships fame and fortune above all else.

In contrast to liberals’ “Be Worst” initiative, The “Be Best” initiative will aim to “promote values such as healthy living, encouragement, kindness, and respect parents, teachers, and other adults can help prepare children for their future.”  Mrs. Trump feels that “with those values as a solid foundation, children will be able to better deal with the evils of the opioid crisis and avoid negative social media interaction.”  When working to combat the opioid crisis, the First Lady might want to emulate Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” initiative from the 1980s but she should definitely work to put her own twist on it, otherwise the liberal mob will accuse her of plagiarism.  As for social media, the tech companies have certainly made it harder for children to “avoid negative social media interaction,” as Facebook has invented a Messenger app for kids as young as six years old.

Hopefully, Melania Trump’s “Be Best” campaign will achieve some degree of success in improving the health and well-being of the next generation.  Surely, supporters of the “Be Worst” campaign will continue to promote their failed ideas, aided and abetted by the mainstream media.  May the best ideas win.
