Anti-American Extremists Take Off Their Masks

This week, anti-American extremists took off their masks.  Well, at least some of them did.

The week began with some demonstrations by some anti-American extremists, many of whom did not take off their masks.  This group of activists describes itself as “anti-fascists” or “antifa” despite the fact that many of their tactics resemble those of “actual fascists.”  Antifa had gathered in Washington, D.C. and Charlottesville over the weekend to mark the one year anniversary of the “Unite the Right” rally spearheaded by white supremacists that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia.  This year, a second “Unite the Right” rally took place in Lafayette Square in front of the White House.  The media hyped the one-year anniversary, which ultimately did not their expectations.  Instead of the gathering of scores of white supremacists they had imagined, only twenty white supremacists showed up in Lafayette Square.

However, a lot more members of Antifa showed up and caused quite a bit of trouble, even attacking journalists.  In spite of this, CNN’s Chris Cuomo excused their violence while Don Lemon said they had a right to “fight fire with fire.”

In addition, Antifa shouted at cops, using terminology such as “F*** the PIGS!,” “COPS AND KLAN GO HAND AND HAND,” and “ALL COPS ARE RACIST, YOU BETTER FACE IT!”  In addition to making their hatred for the men and women of law enforcement perfectly clear, they also expressed quite a bit of contempt for the United States of America, chanting what may become the far left’s new slogan, “no borders, no wall, no USA at all!” One sign at the protest read “America WAS Never Great!”

Ironically, just two days after the “anti-hate” rally, New York Governor and likely 2020 Presidential contender Andrew Cuomo criticized President Trump’s slogan of “Make America Great Again,” declaring that “America was never that great” as the liberal crowd cheered.  2016 Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton had also criticized Trump’s “Make America Great Again,” arguing that “America never stopped being great.”  Cuomo may end up facing three left-of-center challengers in his bid for a third term this fall in addition to Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Malinaro.

While Cuomo identifies as a Catholic, his statements sound like something that would come out of the mouth of a member of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s congregation.  Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, Reverend Wright suggested that America had the terror attacks coming: “We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”   He went on a similar tirade against the US in 2003, The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people.  God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”  Yes, Reverend Wright, “God damn America” is in the Bible the same way inalienable rights to abortion and gay marriage are in the Constitution. Reverend Wright married President Obama and Former First Lady Michelle Obama in addition to baptizing their two daughters.  Yet people still wonder why she declared in 2008, when it looked like her husband might capture the Democratic Nomination for President: “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.”

Going back to the statement made by the Governor of the fourth most populous state in the Union, if Cuomo really believes what he said, he should follow the advice given by his own brother to Laura Ingraham: “If you don’t like what America is, you leave.”  Mike Ditka might offer Cuomo some more blunt advice, which he had offered to Colin Kaepernick, who began the effort to make kneeling during the national anthem fashionable.  Ditka told Kaepernick that if he did not like America, “get the hell out.”

Not surprisingly, it did not take long for President Trump to weigh in on Cuomo’s comments: “Can you believe this, the Governor of the Highest Taxed State in the US, Andrew Cuomo, having a total meltdown!”  Cuomo’s primary challenger, Cynthia Nixon, also gave her two cents on his anti-American comments: “I think this is another example of Andrew Cuomo trying to figure out what a progressive sounds like and missing by a mile.”  CNN Contributor Angela Rye, on the other hand, seconded the remarks made by Antifa and Cuomo, declaring that “America has never been great” during an appearance on “Erin Burnett OutFront.”

Even some former Obama Administration officials, appearing on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” pushed back on Cuomo’s comments.  A strong anti-American streak has existed in the Democratic Party and on the left for many years but the leaders of the Democratic Party want to keep the anti-American a secret the same way they want to keep the fact that they want to impeach President Trump a secret.  After all, many of the people who take pride in burning the flag hail from the left end of the political spectrum, not the right.

While very few people actually go so far as to burn the American flag, many appear to have quite a bit of contempt for Old Glory.  Hillary Clinton applauded a girl for refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.  The debate over whether or not football players should stand for the national anthem still divides the country.  The flag has historically served as a symbol of unity; therefore, it should not come as a surprise that it has found itself in the crosshairs of the left, whose entire political strategy depends on national disunity.

What should happen if an Anti-American extremist should ever become President of the United States?  Well, the signs at the “Unite the Right” rally offer a preview of coming attractions.  “No border, no wall, no USA at all!” might seem like a fringe idea but Rep. Keith Ellison, The Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, wore a shirt declaring that “I don’t believe in borders.”  Ellison decided not to run for a seventh term in the House of Representatives, instead electing to compete in the Democratic Primary for Minnesota Attorney General, which he ultimately won.  Keep in mind that should he win the general election, he will become the top law enforcement official in the Land of 10,000 Lakes which means that he will have to work with the police.  He spent a lot of his time in Congress burning bridges with the law enforcement community by repeatedly defending cop killers.  He may find good company in some of his Democratic colleagues, who prefer to use their perches to advance their SJW agendas rather than enforce the law.  Zephyr Teachout, who ran to Cuomo’s left in the 2014 Democratic primary, posted a video promising to prosecute ICE should New Yorkers elect her Attorney General.

To paraphrase Nelson Mandela, “People must learn to hate America, and if they can learn to hate America, they can be taught to love America.” Unfortunately, many in higher education profess strongly anti-American views, including Former University of Colorado Professor Ward Churchill.  When asked by Dinesh D’Souza who he thought the new Evil Empire was, Churchill replied “You’re sitting in it.”  Bernie Goldberg included Churchill, as well as many other anti-American Academics, on his list of the 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America.  Barbara Foley, who served as a Professor at Rutgers University at the time of the book’s publication, suggested that described the cause of the 9/11 attacks as “the fascism of u.s. (sic) foreign policy over the past many decades.” (Goldberg, 106).  Eric Foner, a History Professor at Columbia University, also did his best to downplay the terror attack that caused the deaths of thousands of Americans.  He actually had to think about whether “the horror that engulfed New York City or the apocalyptic rhetoric emanating daily from the White House” was “more frightening.”

In addition to these academics, Goldberg also mentioned a few anti-American celebrities including Janeane Garafolo, who said that “when I see the American flag, I go ‘Oh my God, you’re insulting me.’ That you can have a gay parade on Christopher Street in New York, with naked men and women on a float cheering, ‘We’re here, we’re queer!’ –that’s what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride.” (Goldberg, 91).  Unfortunately, left-wing celebrities often play an equally important, if not more important role, in shaping the views of America’s young people than left-wing college professors.

Naturally, a distaste for the American people often accompanies the loathing for the country at large.  After all, the American people stand in the way of their plans to “fundamentally transform” America as they found out the hard way in 2016.  Considering the fact that they can’t deport native-born Americans, the left has decided instead to dilute their voting power; preventing them from electing their preferred candidates.  Political Science Professor David Faris explains the far left’s master plan in his new book It’s Time to Fight Dirty: How Democrats Can Build a Lasting Majority in American Politics:   “Expand the Supreme Court and the federal courts, packing them with liberal judges.  Move to multi-member districts to roll back the effects of partisan gerrymandering, Pass a new Voting Rights Act, including nationwide automatic voter registration, felon enfranchisement, and an end to voter ID laws. Grant citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants, creating a host of new Democratic-leaning voters. Republicans have always feared that immigration would change the character of American society.  Democrats should reward them with their very worst nightmare.”

Should the anti-American extremists ever gain power, they will begin to roll back many of the founding principles that have served our country well over the years; namely free speech, the Second Amendment, and our Judeo-Christian heritage as they seek to implement a socialist utopia on American soil. Keep that in mind when voting in this year’s midterm elections; which will take place in just 80 days.
