Liberal Outrage of the Week: Trees

Over the years, liberals have developed a reputation as “tree huggers” as many of them have bought into the environmentalist religion launched by the publication of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring.  Modern leaders of the environmentalist religion include Al Gore and Leonardo Dicaprio but don’t expect them to live by the same rules that they demand everyone else follow.  Loyal followers of the environmentalist religion must have found themselves flabbergasted as a city in one of the most progressive states in the union decided to cut down some trees. As the rest of the country got ready for Christmas, liberals demanded the removal of “racist trees” along Tahquitz Creek Golf Course in Palm Springs, California.  Trees join a long list of items now deemed racist by the cultural overlords in 2017, including milk, mathematics, science, and Disney movies. Tucker Carlson, who compiled the 2017 list, pointed out that “We live in revolutionary times.  Wild things happened in 2017, and they’ll keep happening next year.  In these dangerous political times, it’s important you know what is and is not racist.  So, we made a list for you.  Let us begin. #100RacistThings” I can hardly wait for the 2018 list; which may include the compilation of a separate list highlighting 100 sexist things.  As we learned from the Golden Globes earlier this week, “Poverty is sexist.”    

 

The tamarisk trees that have the Palm Springs City Council’s panties in a bunch separate the golf course from a historically black neighborhood and advocates of the trees’ removal argue that the trees’ presence serve as a reminder of segregation.  Another argument states that the trees block property values, as they block views of the San Jacinto Mountains. The city announced that it plans to spend $169,000 removing the trees.  Whatever happened to the “trees are cool” movement?  Someone call Darryl Hannah.      

 

I have a hard time believing that everyone with houses adjacent to the Tahquist Creek Golf Course actually wants the trees to come down.  The trees serve as a nice barrier to prevent golf balls from causing damage to the houses.  Liberals apparently failed to think about what would happen if the golf course ever shut down.  The overgrown grass would serve as quite an eyesore that would make it difficult for people with houses adjacent to the golf course to sell their properties.  That’s exactly what happened to my aunt when she tried to sell her house after the golf course adjacent to the back of her property closed down.  She did eventually manage to find a buyer for her house but the golf course certainly gave her a lot of headaches. 

 

Liberal radio host Ethan Bearman, who lives in California, argued that the tamarisk trees have to go because they are not native to the Golden State; therefore, they cause a lot of problems.  Tucker Carlson mocked Bearman’s response as “nativist.”  Had Bearman said the same thing about the millions of foreigners living in California illegally, the PC police would have crucified him.    

 

Going after trees seems quite out of character for the ultra-liberal California.  In addition to using the worn-out xenophobia argument, California’s elected leaders plan to block the border wall for environmental reasons.  They have sought the assistance of Former Attorney General Eric Holder as they work to establish California as ground zero for the Resistance.  No wonder the sanctuary state of California has such high taxes; their elected leaders like to use their residents’ hard-earned tax dollars to bankroll Former Attorney General Eric Holder, who almost certainly has a high price tag.               

 

On the other side of the country, liberals have expressed outrage that First Lady Melania Trump would dare to demand the removal of a magnolia tree that has stood on the White House grounds since the time of Andrew Jackson; making it the oldest tree on the White House grounds.  Considering the almost totalitarian liberal purism sweeping our nation that demands the immediate removal of all references to any man who owned slaves or promoted slavery, you would think liberals would welcome the removal of this tree; nicknamed the Jackson Magnolia.  Liberals have already successfully removed a statue of Andrew Jackson from New Orleans’ French Quarter and seek to have his picture removed from the $20 bill.  In addition, many local chapters of the Democratic Party have renamed the “Jefferson-Jackson” dinners.  Melania Trump probably could have cared less about the tree and only demanded its removal after experts recommended the tree’s removal because “the overall architecture and structure is greatly compromised and the tree is completely dependent on the artificial support.  Without the extensive cabling system, the tree would have fallen years ago.”  In other words, the tree has been a problem for years, much like our immigration policy.

 

Fortunately, the First Lady asked for the preservation of the wood, which will serve as the foundation for a replacement tree.  Liberals will probably then demand the removal of that tree if it should ever become known as the “Trump Tree.”  Liberal logic can certainly be hard to follow at times.  Hopefully, a handbook will come out soon that will explain all of the rapidly changing rules of PC culture.        

 

Many real problems continue to plague our great nation.  The folks outside of the liberal bubbles, whom Hillary Clinton referred to as a “basket of deplorables”, have a hard time taking the left’s trivial obsession with trees seriously.  I don’t think Corinne Gasper, whose daughter lost her life at the hands of a driver high on medical marijuana, cares very much about “racist trees.”  I don’t think Jamiel Shaw, Steve Ronnebeck, Mary Ann Mendoza, Sabine Durden and the Steinle Family, who lost their children at the hands of illegal immigrants, care very much about “racist trees.”  I don’t think displaced workers at Disney World, who had to train their foreign replacements willing to work for less money, care very much about “racist trees.”  As exit polls taken throughout the 2016 election cycle proved, most American voters cited the economy, national security, Supreme Court appointments and immigration as the most important issues facing our nation and influencing their votes.  If only we could take exit polls as to what issues our elected officials care about.  You might find some disparities between the priorities of the American people and the priorities of the politicians who govern us.  These disparities might offer an explanation for Congress’s abysmal approval ratings.

 

Should the whole country become like California, which seems more and more likely after the “DACA lovefest” that took place in the Swamp yesterday, our politics will increasingly focus on trivial matters like “racist trees” rather than economic and national security issues that our Federal government has traditionally focused on solving.  Welcome to the brave new world. 

 

Rather than focus on passing bills like the RAISE Act that will actually help a majority of Americans, the new country will instead prioritize the passage of laws that make liberals feel good about themselves, such as the “Stable Genius Act”, which would require Presidential candidates to take a mental exam and release the results to the public.  The title takes a shot at a comment President Trump made on Twitter where he denied the allegations in the book Fire and Fury questioning his mental stability, saying that his accomplishments “qualify as not smart but genius…and a very stable genius at that!”  Rep. Brendan Boyle, who introduced the bill yesterday, said “The President believes he is a ‘stable genius.’  I do not.”  The “Stable Genius Act” looks like the latest attempt by the desperate left to oust a duly elected President.  It amazes me how little faith the Swamp creatures have in the American people; they continue to think that they have an obligation to correct the “mistake” the plebeians made in the 2016 Presidential Election.  If anyone needs a mental exam, it’s the liberal politicians and their allies in the mainstream media who continue to lose their collective minds over the Trump presidency.

 

If nothing else, hopefully the “Liberal Outrage of the Week” stories I have shared on this blog highlight the need to dismantle the culture of political correctness that many Americans have grown weary of.  Many brave new culture warriors from the US and Canada have done everything they can to accomplish this grueling task, including Lauren Southern, Faith Goldy, Candace Owens aka “Red Pill Black” and Gavin McInnes.  Many of them have had unpleasant interactions with the “tolerant” PC police, who have greeted them with pepper spray and urine.  In spite of the challenges that may lie ahead, I hope to join them on the front lines of the culture war in the very near future.  They definitely could use all the help they can find.  Stay tuned.
