For years, Arizona and Florida have only gained population and therefore representation in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College because of immigration as well as migration into the states by retirees because of their low taxes.   Sadly, voters may end up throwing that all away by electing socialist governors in the fall.   In Florida , Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who had the endorsement of Bernie Sanders, beat out the establishment favorite Gwen Graham in the Democratic gubernatorial primary.   Gillum has called for the impeachment of President Trump and embraced the idea of single-payer healthcare, which failed even in Sanders’ home state of Vermont , the most sympathetic to socialism in the union.   No wonder liberal billionaires George Soros and Tom Steyer bankrolled Gillum’s candidacy.       Meanwhile, in Arizona , Arizona State University Professor David Garcia captured the Democratic nomination for Governor. ...

Earlier this year, Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran resigned from the Senate after serving his state in the upper chamber for nearly 40 years due to health reasons.   Cochran’s resignation came just months before he likely would have become Senate President Pro Tempore, as the current holder of that position, Orrin Hatch, will not run for re-election.   Mississippi ’s Republican Governor Phil Bryant quickly appointed Cindy Hyde-Smith as his replacement and a special election will take place this fall to fill the remainder of Cochran’s term, which expires in 2020.   Hyde-Smith has decided to run in the special election, as has Cochran’s 2014 primary challenger Chris McDaniel, who had previously filed to run against incumbent Senator Roger Wicker in the regularly scheduled Senate election this fall.   The special election will come in the form of a jungle primary, which will take place on Election Day.   Should no candidate capture 50 percent of the vote, th...

During a recent appearance at a tech conference in Las Vegas , Former President Barack Obama told the audience: “I didn’t have scandals, which seems like it shouldn’t be something you brag about…No one in my White House ever got in trouble for screwing up as long as there wasn’t malicious intent behind it.”   President Obama apparently made that statement in an effort to contrast himself with the current Administration.     During Saturday’s edition of “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” host Jeanine Pirro read the quote aloud and then asked the one and only Ann Coulter to weigh in on that statement: “As long as The New York Times doesn’t call it a scandal, then it’s not a scandal as far as Democrats are concerned.”   She concluded by saying, “There were many scandals.   I have no healthcare.   Thank you, Obama.” Perhaps President Obama could use a little refresher on some of the scandals that his cheerleading squad in the mainstream media either refuse...

Earlier this week, confirmation hearings began for Gina Haspel, President Trump’s nominee to serve as CIA Director.   Confirmation hearings have become increasingly theatrical, leading me to believe that they have become nothing more than audition tapes for 2020 Presidential hopefuls.   The Democrats hope to use Haspel’s involvement in enhanced interrogation against her, particularly focusing on her ordering of the destruction of a series of tapes detailing enhanced interrogation against suspected Al-Qaeda terrorists.   Far-left Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), widely seen as a contender for the Democratic Presidential Nomination in 2020, asked Haspel if she thought the enhanced interrogation techniques used in the time period immediately following 9/11 were immoral.   Haspel should have assuaged the Democrats’ fears when she said that she did not agree with President Trump’s assertion that torture works.    Haspel faces an uphill battle as she seeks t...

Throughout his short-lived Presidential Campaign, Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) lamented the fact that many conservatives feel that they have to “hide their principles” in order to win elections.   I happen to find it even sadder when conservatives continue to “hide their principles” after they have won their elections.     For one thing, Republicans appear to have completely lost confidence in the idea of free-market healthcare reform.   They tried passing a “skinny repeal” in order to appease the Moderate Republicans; that didn’t work.   A majority of Republicans could not even agree on a clean repeal of Obamacare despite the fact that nearly all of them had voted in favor of it when they knew President Obama would veto it.   When they actually had a chance to axe the healthcare law and provide relief to millions of Americans, they chickened out.   On Capitol Hell (sic), Republicans in both houses of Congress have released their tax reform p...

Shockwaves erupted Friday night as President Trump issued a Presidential Pardon for Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio; also known as “America’s toughest sheriff.”   President Trump issued the pardon on Twitter, saying “I am pleased to inform you that I have just granted a full Pardon to 85 year old American patriot Sheriff Joe Arpaio.   He kept Arizona safe!”   In addition, the White House released a statement saying “Throughout his time as Sheriff, Arpaio continued his life’s work of protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration.   Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now eighty-five years old, and after more than fifty years of admirable service to our Nation, he is a worthy candidate for a Presidential pardon.”   While his loyal base absolutely loved it, the mainstream media angrily accused the President of trying to hide his pardon behind the media’s extensive coverage of Hurricane Harvey; which has brought catastrophic flooding to the...
