The #MeToo movement began late last year when many well-known women emerged with accusations of sexual misconduct against powerful men in the wake of Hollywood Producer and Major Democratic Donor Harvey Weinstein’s fall from grace.   Many of these allegations turned out to be true, others turned out to have no factual basis behind them.   Last week, fashion designer Kate Spade and chef-turned-TV personality Anthony Bourdain committed suicide.   The suicides of these high-profile individuals should highlight the fact that fame and fortune do not necessarily serve as an antidote to the symptoms that often lead people to commit suicide; namely nihilism and despair. Let’s start off with breaking news: Time Magazine has announced its person of the year, or more accurately, people of the year.   The honor goes to “The Silence Breakers”, a group of women who have come forward to accuse powerful men of sexual harassment and/or assault since the publication of The New York Times expose detailing Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein’s bad behavior two months ago. Men in nearly every industry have lost their jobs as a result of these allegations, from the titans of morning TV Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose to “House of Cards” leading man Kevin Spacey.   In many of these cases, the inappropriate behavior of these men was an “open secret.” For example, Katie Couric, who co-hosted “The Today Show” with Lauer for nine years, told Andy Cohen in a 2012 interview on his show “Watch What Happens Live” that “He pinches me on the a** a lot.”   Politicians on both sides of the political aisle have also had to grapple with these allegations. ...

The Congressional Office of Compliance released a stunning report on Thursday detailing the cost and quantity of sexual assault and harassment claims against members of Congress over the past 20 years.   Since FY 1997, more than $17 million of taxpayer money has gone to pay off plaintiffs in more than 250 cases.   Not surprisingly, this document does not list the members of Congress implicated in such scandals; therefore, we the people lack the ability to hold them accountable.            Just like I would really appreciate it if the feminists would pay for their own G.D. birth control, I would really appreciate it if members of Congress would pay for their own G.D. legal settlements.   We could have probably balanced the budget by now if touchy-feely members of Congress had spent their own money to pay off their victims.   It would also certainly help Operation Balance the Budget if members of Congress would pay for their ...

Today, Christians across America celebrate All Saints Day.   Sadly, polling over time indicates fewer and fewer Americans see the value in traditional religion.   More than 50 years of polling shows that the percentage of Americans who practice Christianity continues to fall while the percentage of Americans who identify as atheists and agnostics continues to rise.   In the early 1960s, before the ascent of the Cultural Revolution, more than 90 percent of Americans identified as Christians while just 2 percent identified as non-religious.   Today, only about 3 in 4 Americans identify as Christians while the number of percentage of Americans who do not adhere to any religion has jumped to around 20 percent.   Over the years, the percentage of Americans who practice Judaism has remained steady in the low single digits.   If not for the South and Utah , America ’s religious participation would mirror that of secular Europe .     The de-Ch...
