Top 10 Lowlights of 2019

With 2019 almost in the history books, the time has come for me to identify the lowlights and highlights of the year.   Just like any other year, 2019 had its ups and downs.   Let’s start off with the downs: The Impeachment Debacle: Just like I did with the midterm elections when compiling my lists of highlights and lowlights of 2018, I have decided to include the impeachment debacle on both lists in 2019.   The impeachment hearings amounted to nothing more than a taxpayer-funded opposition research campaign against President Trump; with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff rolling out the red carpet for permanent bureaucrats eager to air their grievances against the President on national TV. In addition to preventing Congress from conducting more important business, the wall-to-wall coverage of the impeachment hearings robbed Americans of the ability to enjoy quality cable TV. However, the impeachment fallout; specifically, President Trump’s rising appro...

How Liberalism Has Failed America

President Trump has found himself under attack from the PC police and the mainstream media for referring to the district of Congressman Elijah Cummings as “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.” The President also claimed that “no human being would want to live there.” His critics tried to paint him as a racist, as his tweet directed at the African-American Cummings came just two weeks after suggesting that the four progressive, minorit Democratic Congresswomen known as “the Squad” to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”   While all four Congresswomen belong to minority groups, only one of them came to the United States from another country (Ilhan Omar).   President Trump’s tweet towards Cummings came as a counterpunch following Cummings’s behavior during a Congressional hearing on the situation at the border. In addition to representing one of the most Democratic districts in the United States and the state of Maryl...

How Not to Celebrate the 4th of July

Happy belated Fourth of July, everyone!   243 years ago this week, Thomas Jefferson and a group of revolutionaries signed the Declaration of Independence; which kicked the underestimated experiment with self-government that later ended up serving as a model that many other countries around the world would follow.   People celebrate Independence Day in a variety of different ways.   Some people with cast-iron stomachs vie for the top prize in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest. Most other people enjoy either hamburgers and hot dogs but with a much smaller portion size. Many communities and neighborhoods gather for fireworks displays and those whose communities do not offer fireworks displays had the option of watching the Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular on NBC and/or the “Salute to America” put on by President Trump featuring a series of air shows as well as a fireworks display. Most Americans make sure to include the colors of the American flag in their war...

Anti-American Extremists Take Off Their Masks

This week, anti-American extremists took off their masks.   Well, at least some of them did. The week began with some demonstrations by some anti-American extremists, many of whom did not take off their masks.   This group of activists describes itself as “anti-fascists” or “antifa” despite the fact that many of their tactics resemble those of “actual fascists.”   Antifa had gathered in Washington , D.C. and Charlottesville over the weekend to mark the one year anniversary of the “Unite the Right” rally spearheaded by white supremacists that took place in Charlottesville , Virginia .   This year, a second “Unite the Right” rally took place in Lafayette Square in front of the White House.   The media hyped the one-year anniversary, which ultimately did not their expectations.   Instead of the gathering of scores of white supremacists they had imagined, only twenty white supremacists showed up in Lafayette Square . However, a lot more members o...

Free Speech Week: Yes, it is Necessary

The folks in the Southern United States have had a rough couple of weeks.   Residents of Texas and Louisiana had to evacuate their homes as Hurricane Harvey dumped feet of rain on their states.   About a week later, residents of Florida had to deal with the wrath of Hurricane Irma; whose storm surge caused massive flooding in parts of the nation’s third most populous state.   Hundreds of thousands of people in Florida have yet to have their power restored.   Both hurricanes cost billions of dollars in damage.   It certainly didn’t help that liberals suggested that people deserved the wrath of hurricanes because their states voted for President Trump in last year’s Presidential Election.     In the minds of the snowflakes at Berkeley , they will have to deal with something far worse than a natural disaster next week:   Free Speech Week. These people probably take trigger warnings more seriously than hurricane warnings.   Brittany...

It Was the Best of America, It Was the Worst of America

Two events that happened this weekend highlight the best and worst of America .   One will make you feel like there actually is hope for the United States of America while the other will make you feel like the traditional America that we know and love has reached a point of no return.          Let’s start off with the worst.   In Berkeley , California , a small group of right-wing activists gathered for a “Say No to Marxism” event were met with thousands of counter-protesters attending a “Rally Against Hate” event.   Apparently, opposing Marxism makes someone hateful.   Amber Cummings, the organizer of the “Say No to Marxism” event, had previously called off the event due to fear of violence breaking out.   In spite of the event’s cancellation, a small group of Anti-Marxists still showed up to talk about their cause.    About 100 of the left-wing counter-protesters inflicted enormous pain on the right-wing protestors,...
