Earlier this year, I unveiled my rubric for the 2019 election; highlighting the best and worst-case scenarios for Republicans.   With the election in the rearview mirror, the time has come for me to actually score the election using the rubric.   I have bolded the scenarios that actually bore out.   Grade State Races Congressional Races A -Republicans sweep all three governorships -Republicans maintain control of both houses of the Virginia legislature -Republicans sweep all three special Congressional elections B -Republicans win two of the three governorships, leaving no net change in the number of governorships -Republicans maintain control of both houses of the Virginia legislature -Republicans win two of the three special Congressional elections C - Republicans win one of the three governorships, giving Democrats a net gain of one seat -Republicans lose ...

To those who have not figured it out yet, liberals want to massively expand the size and scope of the federal government.   This goes against the vision of the Founders who did not want a massive, centralized federal government.   In Federalist No. 45 , future President James Madison declared that “the powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite.” This federalist system has given Americans the option to leave states that no longer meet their needs while remaining a member of the American family.   Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis once described the states as “laboratories of democracy.” Unfortunately, the leaders of many states do not seem to have the ability to recognize it when their experiments have failed miserably.   That especially goes for the head honchos in deep blue states.  Fortunately for the residents of blue states...

While the 2020 Presidential Election has not even taken place yet, I have already given some thought to who I want representing the Republican Party in the 2024 Presidential Election. I obviously hope President Trump wins re-election in 2020; which would make him ineligible for re-election in 2024 due to term limits. If he managed to lose re-election in 2020, the establishment and #NeverTrumpers will surely argue that the Republican Party must forget about what happened in 2016 and act on the conclusions of the “ autopsy ” that the party released following its defeat in the 2012 Presidential Election. Regardless of what happens in 2020, I think I have already found the perfect candidate to represent the Republican Party in 2024 and I feel quite confident that many of my fellow conservatives will agree with me. The Quentin Tarantino film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” hit theaters Friday. For the record, I do not plan on seeing it. I found myself disgusted at Tarantino’s anti-police rhetoric , the result of which has reared its ugly head this month in New York City.   I hardly ever go to movie theaters and I hardly watch movies in general anymore.  I have quite an impressive movie collection; a combination of tapes and DVDs.  Unfortunately, I find myself unable to enjoy my collections as much as I want to since my VCR does not work anymore and any replacement would likely have to come in the form of a combined DVD and VCR.  The DVD player works fine, therefore I don’t see the need for buying a new VCR/DVD player combo until the DVD player goes bad.
