Top 10 Highlights of 2019

With 2020 officially underway, it makes perfect sense to look back on the highs and lows of 2019.   I have already assembled a list of the Top 10 Lowlights of 2019.   I thought it made sense to begin the new year on a high note with a list of the Top 10 Highlights of 2019. The impeachment fallout: Not only did Democrats fail to convince a single Republican to support the articles of impeachment against President Trump, they managed to lose one of their own members as a result of their obsession with removing the President from office by any means necessary.   Congressman Jeff Van Drew, a “blue dog” Democrat from New Jersey’s 2 nd Congressional District, voted against proceeding with the impeachment inquiry that amounted to nothing more than a taxpayer-funded therapy session for disaffected bureaucrats; making him one of only two Democrats in the House to do so.   When it came time to vote on actual articles of impeachment, not only did Van Drew vote no o...

Top 10 Lowlights of 2019

With 2019 almost in the history books, the time has come for me to identify the lowlights and highlights of the year.   Just like any other year, 2019 had its ups and downs.   Let’s start off with the downs: The Impeachment Debacle: Just like I did with the midterm elections when compiling my lists of highlights and lowlights of 2018, I have decided to include the impeachment debacle on both lists in 2019.   The impeachment hearings amounted to nothing more than a taxpayer-funded opposition research campaign against President Trump; with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff rolling out the red carpet for permanent bureaucrats eager to air their grievances against the President on national TV. In addition to preventing Congress from conducting more important business, the wall-to-wall coverage of the impeachment hearings robbed Americans of the ability to enjoy quality cable TV. However, the impeachment fallout; specifically, President Trump’s rising appro...

The Transformation of Kanye West

Happy Election Day!   While voters in four states will head to the polls today to select governors and/or state legislators, I have only discussed the elections in three of them because I consider it a safe bet that the Democrats will hold onto both houses of the New Jersey legislature.   President Trump has done his best to ensure that Republicans will win the gubernatorial races in Kentucky and Mississippi by holding rallies in those states; where he enjoys very high approval ratings.   Vice President Mike Pence headed to Virginia in an effort to help Republicans prevent Democrats from achieving their fantasy of a “trifecta” in the Old Dominion; which will likely lead to the barbaric “Repeal Act” becoming law.   Five years from today, the 2024 Presidential Election will take place.   While less than a year remains between now and the 2020 Presidential Election, it’s never too early to start thinking about 2024. I’ve thought a lot about 2024 and what ...

The Battle for the Soul of Virginia

Two weeks ago, I took a trip to the Swamp for the first time since my internship ended 18 months ago to attend The National Journalism Center’s Alumni Networking Happy Hour . I like it down there, particularly because of the people; a great group of conservatives live there.   It looks like my decision to make the trip has already paid off. In addition to making new friends, I became aware of a great job opportunity in the state of Virginia, where I lived for three months during my internship, that I likely would not have found out about otherwise. Should I end up returning to the Swamp, which I hope happens sooner than later, I would elect to live in Virginia.   After all, living in Washington, D.C. costs a lot of money.  In addition, practically speaking, it makes the most sense for me to live in Virginia if I want my vote in the Presidential election (as well as statewide elections) to make the most difference. If I chose to live in the District of Columbi...
