Culture War Update: It's Not Over Yet

Those who think that the election of Donald Trump will immediately catapult conservatives to victory in the culture war are unfortunately mistaken.  The election of President Trump is certainly a good start, but there is still much more work that lies ahead in order to reverse the damage that secular progressive SJWs have inflicted on our society and declare a conservative victory. Even if the Republicans have 60 seats in the Senate after the next election cycle, the left will still have control over Hollywood, Academia, and the media; all of which have an enormous influence over our culture.

The left has also been very successful in infiltrating the judiciary, which is supposed to be the most impartial and independent branch of government.  The left knows that all it has to do in order to get its agenda enacted into law is to turn to their friends on the bench who will happily declare anything the Trump administration does unconstitutional. It is a shame that the men and women who are supposed to serve as the guardians of the Constitution far too often disregard the document that they are sworn to preserve and protect and instead substitute their own political opinions. William Orrick, a Federal judge in California has prevented The Center for Medical Progress from posting its latest batch of undercover video footage showing Planned Parenthood officials attending the National Abortion Federation Convention callously discussing their “humanitarian” work of dismembering unborn babies.  Orrick previously placed a gag order on the CMP when it released its first batch of undercover videos of Planned Parenthood in 2015.  Coincidentally, this is the same judge who blocked President Trump’s executive order that would withhold funding from sanctuary cities that blatantly disregard Federal immigration law.  It shouldn’t be much longer before this guy is nominated for sainthood in the Church of Liberalism.  If he somehow comes up short in his bid for sainthood, he would surely be a top contender for a Supreme Court Justice in the next Democratic administration.

The attacks on social conservatives do not appear to be letting up.  A family in Michigan, the Tennes family, was banned from selling blueberries at the Farmer’s Market in the City of East Lansing because they answered no to the hypothetical question of whether or not they would host a same-sex wedding on their farm; citing their deeply held religious belief that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman.  The answer given by the Tennes family is now considered the “wrong answer” by the culture elites who have obtained so much power in our society.  Believe it or not, the Tennes family’s belief on marriage is no different than Former President Obama’s view in the 2008 Presidential campaign.  The Former President has since “evolved” to the “correct” position.  The PC Police in East Lansing claim that the Tennes’ refusal to host a same-sex wedding violates the city’s discrimination ordinance despite the fact that their farm is located 22 miles outside of East Lansing.  Could someone remind me again what someone’s position on marriage has to do with selling blueberries?

Let’s finish with a progress report on conservative inroads in the culture war.  The age of the internet is allowing for the rise of many independent conservative media outlets  to compete with the corporate owned mainstream media that has been advancing secular progressive causes for decades.  The digital age has also allowed the creation of the nonprofit PragerU, an online education platform founded by conservative radio talk show host Dennis Prager which uses short You Tube videos to educate, rather than indoctrinate, America’s youth.  As for conservative inroads in Hollywood, it is nice to see that faith-based movies such as “God’s Not Dead” are becoming more popular among those seeking a break from the nonstop sex, violence and gore that most Hollywood movies offer.  These inroads, no matter how insignificant they may seem, should give all conservatives hope that maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Pat Buchanan said in a recent column that “the counterculture of the 1960s captured the arts, entertainment, education and media to become the dominant culture and convert much of the nation and most of its elite.”  By default, those hoping to return a more traditional culture are considered members of the counter-culture today. It should be clear that the left will use any means necessary to silence conservatives.  It is up to us to fight back, stand up for what we believe in and remember that we will not win the culture war by resorting to violence but by allowing our ideas to be heard.
