Not Another Terrorist Attack

It has been a rough couple of months for the people of the United Kingdom; who have had to watch their fellow citizens get slaughtered in three terror attacks in the past ten weeks.  The first terror attack happened in Westminster as perpetrator mowed down pedestrians with a vehicle; the same technique used by the perpetrators of the July 2016 terror attack in Nice, France and the December 2016 terror attack in Berlin, Germany.  The Westminster attack left five dead and forty-nine injured.   Two months later, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device as people were leaving an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester; killing more than 20 and injuring more than 100. Less than two weeks after the Manchester attack, a van plowed into innocent pedestrians on the London Bridge.  People were jumping off the bridge into the water to avoid getting hit.  The three perpetrators then abandoned the van and entered Borough Market, where they stabbed four people while wearing fake explosive vests.  An eyewitness to the attack at Borough Market claimed that the perpetrators shouted “This is for Allah.”  The death toll from the most recent attack currently stands at seven, not including the perpetrators; with 48 more people sustaining injuries.  One of the attackers worn born in Pakistan; another was born in either Morocco or Libya. The identity of the third attacker has not yet been released to the public.  In all three attacks that have occurred in England since March, the perpetrators wound up dead.

These tragic events should make one thing crystal clear: the number one national security threat to the United States, and all other western countries, is radical Islamic terrorism; not climate change, not Russia.  No, John Kerry; refrigerators and air conditioning are not as dangerous as ISIS.  There are even some who apparently think President Trump is the number one national security threat to the United States.  CNN Host Reza Aslan referred to POTUS as “a piece of sh*t” and an “embarrassment to humankind”; a term that more accurately describes the soulless, despicable monsters who carried out these terror attacks.

The terror problem is not limited to the United Kingdom.  Terrorists have been wreaking havoc in Germany, France, Belgium, Russia, Sweden, and Turkey; as well as the United States.   The graphic below, which I found on Twitter, lists more than 20 attacks carried out by the ISIS savages since the January 2015 Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris; as well as the hashtags that surfaced on Twitter following the attacks.  Hundreds have been killed and thousands have been injured in these attacks. While it is never a bad idea to pray, a lot more needs to happen in order to defeat the radical jihadists that are hell-bent on destroying Western Civilization.

There are many lessons that the United States can learn from these terror attacks that could help prevent future tragedies.  Perhaps the most important lesson is “if you see something, say something.”  This goes for both civilians as well as the government officials whose job it is to monitor those on the terror watch list.  We always find out after the fact that the perpetrator of the attack was known to authorities. One of the perpetrators of Saturday’s attack was known for holding extreme views.  Civilians, if you see suspicious behavior, do not be afraid to report it to authorities.  Do not be afraid of being called a bigot; do not fear being called Islamophobic. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Embrace the label; the same way Trump supporters embraced the “deplorable” label and Hillary supporters embraced the “nasty woman” label.  Political correctness is the biggest obstacle in fighting Radical Islamic terrorism.

The second lesson is that open borders and multiculturalism do not work.  They are an enormous threat to national security.  It appears as if the residents of the United Kingdom have finally realized this, which is why they voted to leave the European Union last year.  Many of the countries listed above, especially Sweden, Germany and France have been very generous in admitting refugees into their countries; which have large welfare states that the newcomers take advantage of.  While they may have done so with noble intentions, it is often said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.  Life on Earth will be total hell if the jihadists are successful in achieving their goal of a global caliphate.

British Prime Minister Theresa May is correct when she says “There is-to be frank-far too much tolerance of extremism in our country.”  If we accept these terror attacks as the new normal, the terrorists will win.  We need to be as determined to save Western Civilization as the jihadists are to destroy it.  It is time to fight back.
