Make America Sane Again

The election of Donald Trump as the 45^th President of the United States has shined a light on some of the most extreme elements and beliefs of the American left.  I guess you could say his election allowed the true beliefs of radical leftists to “come out of the shadows.”  Some of the comments that have come out of the mouths of liberals over the past couple of weeks have made me wonder if the country has gone insane.    

 

Liz Phipps Soeiro, the librarian at Cambridgeport Elementary School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, rejected a package of Dr. Seuss books sent by First Lady Melania Trump in honor of “National Read a Book Day.” She wrote a letter to the First Lady, criticizing her for not sending the books to a more disadvantaged school and referring to the Dr. Seuss books as “racist propaganda.”  Apparently, Ms. Soeiro has a beef with some of the political cartoons Dr. Seuss created before his rise to fame as a world-renowned children’s author. Strangely, a picture has surfaced showing Ms. Soeiro dressed up as the Cat in the Hat, one of Dr. Seuss’s most famous characters.  Maybe her position on Dr. Seuss has “evolved”, just like President Obama’s position on same-sex marriage. 

 

Even some on the left have expressed disgust at Soeiro’s comments.  The Democratic Mayor of Springfield, Dr. Seuss’s hometown, called her statements “political correctness at its worst.” If only this had happened a year earlier; then Lauren Southern could have included Soeiro’s comments in her video, “Literally Everything is White Supremacy.”  I sure hope Soeiro’s views do not reflect the opinions of a majority of public school teachers in America.  If they do, then the United States of America as we know it is doomed.    

 

But it looks like some of America’s children have consumed a lethal dose of the left-wing Kool-Aid that many of America’s educators have forced our next generation to drink.  A video first posted online by Campus Reform captures Edith Macias, an “ethnic studies” student at UC Riverside, stealing economics major Matthew Vitale’s MAGA hat and then attempting to turn it into the student life office.  Apparently, the struggle began at a conference the two were attending.  Campus Reform’s Media Director Cabot Phillips offered $500 on Twitter to anyone who could watch the video, which goes on for nearly ten minutes, without violently cringing.  She claimed that the hat represented genocide and went on ranting about how she hates this country and telling Vitale “your freedom of speech is literally killing a lot of people out there…You’re out there wearing hats like these that promote laws and legislations that literally kill and murder in the masses people of color.”  Perhaps Ms. Macias should take her grievances about genocide and the mass murder of people of color to Planned Parenthood, since more than 19 million black babies have lost their lives to abortion since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide.  But I doubt that she has any intention of making unflattering comments about Planned Parenthood since she probably learned in school that Planned Parenthood does great “charity work” designed to help low-income women.      

 

 

At this year’s extremely low-rated Emmy Awards, “Insecure” star Issa Rae said “I’m rooting for everybody black!”  News flash: people don’t deserve an award because of their skin color; they deserve an award because of their talent.  Maybe Ms. Rae forgot that we fought an entire civil war to prove that people should be judged based on the content of their character and not the color of their skin.  Rae’s statement was hardly the only dumb statement to come out of Hollywood in the past couple of weeks.  At a CNN town hall last week, Gold Star Parents confronted Hollywood Director Spike Lee, asking him “When North Korea aims a missile at us, are these football players going to be on their knees?  Or are they gonna support our veterans?”  Lee responded by saying “Sir, I’m worried just as much about Donald Trump as that crazy guy in North Korea.”  Only in the ivory towers of Academia, the backlots of Universal Studios or the newsrooms in the Capital Beltway would anybody think that President Trump presents more of a danger to the United States than Kim Jong Un; who shows no regard for the well-being of his people, murders his relatives and has shown willingness to unleash a nuclear weapon capable of causing millions of people to lose their lives. Somebody call Bill O’Reilly, I think we’ve found ourselves the “Pinhead of the Week.”

 

Another pinheaded comment came from Former First Lady Michelle Obama, who gave a speech to an enthusiastic crowd in Boston.  She seemed that baffled that so many women voted for President Trump, suggesting that “Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice, in a way.”  I thought the whole point of feminism and the women’s rights movement was to allow women to think for themselves.  Perhaps it never occurred to the girl-power feminists like Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Madeleine Albright that President Trump does speak for some women on the issues that matter to them; especially when it comes to the economy and national security, which affect every American regardless of gender, religion, or race.  Not every woman will pull the lever for a Presidential Candidate just because they share the same reproductive organs. 

 

In a recent tweet, Greg Gutfeld pointed out that “ESPN, Emmys, Democratic Party, NFL, Rolling Stone, New Republic, campus speech, friendship” were all killed by the toxin of identity politics.  Tim Ryan can try and get his party to focus on a “simple economic message that appeals across race, religion and region” all he wants but based on the statements I have shared in this article, it seems like the Democrats have no intention of abandoning identity politics.  That should certainly help Republicans do very well in the 2018 midterm elections, despite their failure to repeal and replace Obamacare and build a wall.

 

Liberals making ridiculous statements caused many Americans to vote for President Trump in last year’s presidential election. Maybe liberals fail to realize that endorsing insanity will only pave the way for his re-election in 2020.   Liberals have already turned off some of their own voters who have since taken the “red pill” and converted to conservatism; including popular You Tuber Candace Owens aka Red Pill Black and University of West Virginia Student Jessica Dobrinsky, a former blue-haired Bernie Sanders supporter who now works with Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA.  No wonder liberals want to pass an amnesty bill so bad; they want to bring in a bunch of new voters to help cut their losses.  Conservatives could certainly use the help of former conservatives on the task force to Make America Sane Again. Making America Sane Again will require the development of mutual respect between people with opposing views, as well as their property.  It would also help if liberals abandoned tribalism along racial and gender lines in favor of meritocratic principles that founded modern western civilization.  But that would not help their political bottom line. Making America Sane Again will take time and effort but I sure hope the process begins before the country breaks apart beyond a point of no return.
